packing light list guide

A packing light list guide is something that I always have created before every trip I’ve taken overseas, whether it’s for a one-week trip to Paris, country hopping Spain, or a 3-week stay in Florence, Italy, or Morocco.

I’m a planner by nature and I was an event party planner in hotels and restaurants. If you know what writing a Banquet Event Order means, then you know the world I come from… the one that makes social and corporate events happen down to the smallest details. 🎉

And in my heyday, I remember planning over 50 parties during one holiday season. I love having peace of mind that no detail gets missed.

And I’m the opposite of “fly by the seat of my pants” in planning good trips, except when it comes to landing at my planned spots and fully enjoying them. In my eyes, planning pays off!

And as part of planning, packing is something I look forward to… because that means that I’m planning travel where I get to experience new sights, tastes, and sounds in a new place that my travel experience blog is all about. And planning allows me to build up anticipation in advance of a trip.

…And that’s exciting to me! Maybe you too?

And so when planning, I like to have my home comforts with me. And I live to travel light. One carry-on and one check-in bag has everything I need for 3 days or 3 weeks.

I created a packing light list guide so you can see the sample checklists I create in advance of each trip (and how I approach planning from the perspective of practicality AND optimizing full travel enjoyment). And can use my checklists for your next travel packing template.

My planner thinking is: I don’t plan to take time to make silly stops to get lip balms, chargers, and toiletries and things that had I planned in advance, I’d have with me. And that saves travel time and money.

With a packing light list guide, I’ve optimized my luxury comfort and am proud to see all my little bottles in a ziplock sandwich bag that make it across the security check belt. 😊

And have plenty of fun travel outfits that make me giddy like a schoolgirl. 👧🏻

I get to wear the bright, colorful mini-skirts and slightly avant-garde outfits I would never have a chance to wear back home even though they sit in my closet as inspiration for ONE DAY. I use travel as my ONE DAY excuse 😀

And I’ve planned for the just in case my bags don’t arrive. I’m here to hit the ground running to explore and experience more!
